Hope’s Harvest RI

Hope’s Harvest RI  (HHRI) is Rhode Island’s first gleaning initiative to focus on food rescue from farms in RI and Southeastern MA. RI has a strong and vibrant local food system that connects farmers and local food producers with it’s residents. HHRI’s mission is to close the gap between excess food left in the fields and populations struggling with food insecurity. HHRI prioritizes financially supporting our farm partners for their participation in our work, and in recognition of the value of their time and generosity.  In 2018, HHRI received a Local Agriculture and Seafood Act (LASA) grant from the RI Department of Environmental Management to pay the farmers a small stipend for signing up with HHRI. There are over 200 hunger relief agencies in RI and HHRI cultivates strong relationships with pantries and soup kitchens in our network to bring local, fresh, nutritious fruits and vegetables, often picked the same day, to our friends and neighbors in need.
