Harvest Against Hunger

The hungry don’t just need food – they need nutritious food. Harvest Against Hunger helps get surplus produce from farms to hungry people by connecting farmers, produce packing facilities, transportation providers, volunteers and hunger relief agencies.

Our model builds farmer relationships to ensure their potential food loss goes to feeding those who lack access to fresh produce. It partners with transportation providers to fill empty trucks and deliver produce to food banks. And it supports food banks and pantries with national service members who help them expand their limited resources to serve more people.

Harvest Against Hunger develops and implements programs that assist farmers and build capacity within food banks and pantries through the support of AmeriCorps VISTA service members. To date, we have partnered with more than 60 hunger relief agencies in Washington and in six other states.
