This is NRDC’s landmark report that provides an overview of the inefficiencies in the U.S. food system and the resources wasted because of it.  It examines drivers and quantities of food losses at every level of the food supply chain, and provides the latest recommendations and examples of emerging solutions. While much of the paper is a literature review, many of the statistics within are regularly cited, including the now-well-known statistic that 40% of food is never eaten.
