A first time look at the amount of food lost to waste in America’s home and community gardens.
Two year survey of 2,500 gardeners across America surveyed.
Critical results:
- Gardeners are growing 11 billion pounds more food than they can use, preserve or give away – enough to feed 28 million Americans.
- 4 out of every 5 gardeners, given the opportunity, want to donate the excess food
- Half of the gardeners would explicitly grow more just for donating, once they knew a food program would accept it.
